Shannon Williamson is a Christchurch-based visual artist whose practice is dominated by her love of drawing. She graduated with a BFA from the University of Canterbury in 2009 and has exhibited in solo and group shows internationally since 2001. Using pencil, watercolour and gouache, Williamson draws loosely on the visual languages of anatomy, astronomy and cartography. Her drawings are pseudo-maps of bodily experience implying a delicate futility in the human quest for order and purpose.
