With What We Have, Resist!

Nina Simone declared that it is “the duty” of artists to reflect the times they are living in.
This exhibition of painting, textile art, clothing and narrative is the response of Briar Cook and Donna Demente to a society that seems
largely content to continue business as usual in the face of social and environmental degradation.
As artists, we resist this with the creative tools at our disposal - fabric, paint, and the vernacular performativity of our bodies going
about our day to day lives.
